Exploration and Your Part In It
There is a stark stark difference between the transformation of becoming and realizing what we have always been
I recorded this on the nature of exploration.
It is essentially a stream of consciousness, in that it started from a thought that occurred about a 16th Century King then followed the words to their natural conclusion. It appears to be meditative in tone. So best not listen whilst driving or operating heavy machinery.
Something happens from a still point where there is no act on your part. No act of searching. No act of attempting to make this something else.
In that still moment it finds you, not you it.
There is a stark stark difference between the transformation of becoming and realizing what we have always been underneath it all. This is antithetical to the way so many of us assume it to be. Heretical perhaps. Certainly the opposite to much of the way of this (human) world.
And now, after listening, if you were to hold a useful question let it be;
‘What is it that is preventing this (natural phenomena, me) from happening?’
And not ‘What can I do to make this happen?’
This might warrant a few listens. Here it is as an audio
I’ve written (and recorded) much on this over the years. Here are a few suggestions;
On Belonging Without Condition
photographic note: I actually acquired this compass from a professor in Montreal and often carry it on Inner View trips.
There was a moment a few years back where an icon (perhaps) of the personal development/transformation industry was in front of my camera with an audience witnessing it all on a large monitor. And in this ‘moment’ the person in question realized what this experience was and how opposite it was to the the very notion of transformation and becoming. That person literally could not then make eye contact from that moment, and the entire room was extremely uncomfortable.
Was if we already were? What then for the journey, what then for an entire world set up to encourage becoming?
I am thankful this is not the 16th Century. Heretics and all that.
This experience is woefully simple and takes nothing. Because it already is. Subtraction not addition. Addition is probably addiction.
I know it is possible to call off the search.
Over, and out. For now.
This is absolutely profound. I deeply appreciate your work. As a life-long learner and spiritual seeker, I am coming to the realization that I am thoroughly addicted to learning "how" to become something "better" than that which I already am. There is a certain grieving process that I am entering as I shed the striving to transform and the longing to belong. Thank you, Nic 🙏
