A Deep Faith But Not In Any God
For those who might be wondering what humanity could be and about their own part in it
This Came With No Instructions and No Plan
This isn’t a film. It’s a fragment.
Just three minutes. A moment in which something real showed itself through me — the quiet root of what has moved me for two decades.
It came with no instructions, no plan. Just a deep knowing I had to follow.
The origin point was never mine. It still isn’t.
What I speak of in this fragment is something many have felt: a distant sense of truth, a deep faith in something indescribable — not in any god, but in life itself.
It’s the kind of faith you follow without knowing why, even when it costs you.
If you’ve ever known something like that — if you’re still near it — this work on mine may be for you.
There have been a lot of dead ends in this exploration. This is utterly mysterious. It’s not in time and space. It’s a deep faith in life itself. In a very different origin point. A deep universal origin point. It must be why I wrote the Tree of Dreams.
the image that fronts the video - I photographed from a boat to Molokai, Hawaii. Taken just before the rain. There was silence and inevitability in the air. The moment felt like this work: arriving through mystery, not strategy. The color version is amazing, I have posted it on instagram.
Beautiful, thank you Nic, resonates on every level.
Has it struck you Nic that what you feel or experience is what many see God as, many of faith would envy you that sense.
